GAPAL is an initiative from PT Lintas Maritim Indonesia, a shipping company specializing in transporting commodities in Indonesia and worldwide. The idea for the GAPAL application emerged from the experiences of ship owners who had arrived at their intended shipyards but found them full, requiring them to wait for a certain period to enter the shipyard. GAPAL aims to provide ship owners with information about the availability of shipyards, along with all the specifications and facilities offered by those shipyards.
With the help of clients, the Dihardja Software team studied the needs of potential users of the GAPAL application, which is ship owners and shipyard owners. Subsequently, the Dihardja Software design team designed the appropriate and suitable application design to meet these needs. The Dihardja team assisted in building the GAPAL application from scratch, creating a moodboard, proposing the logo and application branding, creating the application flow through wireframes, and ultimately designing high-fidelity designs as the final result.
Setting a moodboard before starting the design process is essential to ensure a consistent design throughout the product. The moodboard for the GAPAL app is simple and straightforward. It utilizes block colors and large images to balance the simplicity of the content.
The name GAPAL is derived from “Galangan Kapal” (Shipyards). The Dihardja design team created branding for GAPAL. The logo featuring an anchor to represent shipyards. The brand colors used are navy blue and light blue, inspired by the colors of the sea.
The GAPAL project consists of three products: a mobile app for ship owners, a website app for shipyard owners, and an admin website app. Wireframing helps designers and the client get a clear understanding of all the app’s features before moving on to the high-fidelity design phase.
